What is a Tesla referral link?
A referral link is a personal link that a current Tesla owner shares. When you open it and place your order from that page, Tesla attaches the referral to your order. Depending on what Tesla is running at the time, the buyer, the owner, or both may get a benefit. Tesla sets the program and changes it often, and sometimes there is no buyer benefit at all. That is why I do not list a specific amount here: benefits vary, and the current offer (if any) is shown on the referral page and at checkout.
How to apply a referral link when you order
- Open the referral link first. Use the link before you start configuring, for example my link: tesla.com/get-app/referral?code=matt89272.
- Choose your car from that page. Pick the Model 3, Model Y or another model and configure it in the same browser session.
- Check the order summary. Before you pay the order fee, look for the referral and any offer Tesla is showing.
- Place the order. Complete checkout from that same session. Keep your order confirmation.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Ordering first, then looking for a link. Tesla decides whether a referral can be added after ordering, so use the link before you place the order to be safe.
- Switching devices or browsers mid-order. Start and finish the order in the same session after opening the link.
- Assuming an old offer still applies. Referral rewards change. Trust what Tesla shows at checkout, not an old video or post.
